Automatic Biometric Identification System (ABIS)
The Automatic Biometric Identification System (ABIS) technology comprises all aspects required for setting up complex identification applications such as a high-speed matching engine, fingerprint search-database management and client-server architecture. The ABIS has a scalable architecture, allowing the matching server component to be installed on several matching computers to distribute the workload and increase matching speed.
Therefore, the ABIS can search scalable databases ranging from hundreds of thousands to hundreds of millions of fingerprints.
Unlike other more costly ABIS systems, our ABIS runs on standard PC hardware and is easy to set up. The matching server can be installed either on one computer or on several computers, facilitating workload distribution and increased matching speed.

Identification and verification of people using multiple biometrics have become part of everyday business in the Private as well as Government sectors.
This disruptive technology is introduced almost on a daily basis, especially with the use of mobile technology. Opportunities are created for collaboration across industries using biometrics.
Live Scan Units
Toppan FaceTech supplies its customers with state-of-the-art, tailored Live Scan equipment for the capture of multi-biometric and biographical data, with biometrics being a key component of most of its solutions. These Live Scan units vary from fixed desk-based solutions to mobile suitcases and hand-held units. The Live Scan units are customised for each customer’s specific requirements to capture any or all of the following:
- Biographic data – Name, Surname, Id No etc
- Fingerprints – single -, dual – or multiple fingerprints (Slap Scan)
- Photograph (Facial Image)
- Iris
- Signature
- Supporting Documents
Once the above information has been captured, options are also available to print a temporary or permanent card or proof of registration for the customer.
Mobile Registration & Verification Kits
Mobile Registration & Verification Kits are used in all our solutions where certain system functions are required for out of the office or offline situations such as:
- Offline Registration of individuals by capturing data and biometrics.
A registration card can also be produced on the spot e.g. Voters Registration - Verification of Voters during voting process where data is consolidated on kits.
- Mobile Online Processing of applications for TIS or ID Solutions
